Bodegas Macià Batle: carbonic maceration

Three wines of carbonic maceration from 100% native grapes

Carbonic Maceration Tinto 2019, Carbonic Maceration Rosé 2019 and Carbonic Maceration White 2019 are three of Macià Batle's annual wines, all of them monovarietals and made one hundred percent with native grapes.

The artist Rafael Vaquer has been commissioned, this year, to design the labels, all starring figures of motorcyclists who faithfully follow the author's style.

To make these fresh, sweet and easy-to-consume wines, three hundred percent native varieties are used: black mantle, prensal and gorgollassa. And it is that in Bodegas Macià Batle special emphasis is always placed on maintaining the character of the grape, the native Majorcan variety.

These grapes are collected in plastic boxes and independently for each variety, storing them in a cold room at two degrees Celsius for four days.

After this time, the boxes are emptied into stainless steel tanks under an atmosphere of carbon dioxide. This tank remains hermetically covered for twelve days. After this pre-fermentation maceration, intracellular fermentation takes place, the most outstanding characteristic and for which carbonic maceration wines are so appreciated.

When the twelve days of incubation have passed, the partially fermented grapes are extracted and placed in the pneumatic press. The must-flower wine goes to stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation ends at fourteen degrees centigrade.

Carbonic Maceration Red 2019

It is a red that has the color of ripe cherry and purple reflections. It is a clean and bright medium robe wine. Its aroma is intense, very fruity and with hints of black forest fruits, liquoried candied fruit and black liquorices that evoke the flavor of the pharmacy. It is a balsamic wine that stands out on the palate for its well-structured tannin, with an intense and sweet mid palate in which the characteristics of winemaking predominate.

The experts at Bodegas Macià Batle advise serving it at a temperature of twelve degrees to enhance its organoleptic characteristics.

Carbonic Rosé Maceration 2019

This wine stands out for its lively, clean and bright pink color. Its aroma is very intense, weapons of a primary nature. It has nuances of fresh fruit, strawberries and raspberries, all of which are reminiscent of lollipops and sweets from childhood ... or more mature ages. It is a sweet wine, easy to consume and delicious.

On the palate it is smooth and fresh, very well balanced. The acidity is perfectly combined and gives that feeling of freshness that is so characteristic of it. The flavor is intense and leaves that fruity sensation that is so reminiscent of candy.

In this case, the experts at Bodegas Macià Batle advise taking it at a temperature of six degrees in order to fully enjoy all its characteristics.

Carbonic White Maceration 2019

The Maceración Carbonónica Blanco 2019 wine stands out, in its visual aspect, for its lively yellow color, with yellow and golden reflections, and its clean and bright tone. With an intense and fruity aroma, reminiscent of banana, white pear, Golden apple and white flowers.

In the mouth it stands out for its smoothness, which is further increased, if possible, by a slight acidity that highlights its freshness, with an intense and sweet mid-palate. The predominance of white fruits also stands out.

The must-flower wine goes to stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation ends at fourteen degrees centigrade.

At Bodegas Macià Batle it is recommended to take it at a maximum temperature of six degrees, to enhance its organoleptic characteristics.

Looking for perfection in the elaboration of all wines

The history of these flagship wineries in Mallorca shows that their success is based on the constant search for perfection and, in the words of Ramón Servalls, director of Macià Batle, “the greatest pride for a vintner, which is to see how people are surprised of the quality of the wine they are tasting, how they enjoy it and how, tasting a wine from our wineries becomes a unique experience ”.

Precisely the director of Macià Batle is one of the greatest defenders of Mallorcan wine and a staunch critic of the “riojitis” and “riberitis” that Mallorcan people sometimes suffer from. In this sense, the objective of the wineries is to continue making wines that surprise and appeal to all those who purchase any of their bottles to enjoy a good glass of wine.

We must not forget that with the tastings that Macià Batle has offered since 98, the wineries want to “encourage people to learn and enjoy”. According to Ramón Servalls, you don't need to be an expert or accumulate knowledge or wisdom to enjoy wine. It is necessary to remove the patina of snobbery because "anyone can enjoy and learn from a good wine."
