Café Med Restaurant

Majorcan cuisine of the XXI century in Fornalutx

Rafel Calle

"When people enter the restaurant they are surprised, because it is Mallorcan cuisine, but very much my own," explains Peter Toth, Mallorcan at heart, and of Hungarian origin.

The chef and owner of the Café Med Restaurant says with a smile that he likes to cook from the stomach, with the soul and with love. "I want to surprise diners, show them that there are other things they haven't tried before."

Vegetables are one of the protagonists.
Peter Toth's menu is small but select. "I like cooking with seasonal produce, vegetables are the center of everything, and around it I create the dish." The menu, just released, includes ingredients such as avocados from Sóller, artichokes and Bomba rice from Sa Pobla or chard from Deiá.

Dishes that surprise for their combination of flavors.
"I cook duck marinated in coffee", explains the chef, "people are strange, but they always love everyone." There are also ravioli stuffed with suckling pig's head, pickled llampuga with beets and cauliflower, or Majorcan cod "my way", as Peter Toth says, with ramellet jam, potato made with salt, crushed and dressed with olive oil. olive, and with pine nuts and raisins in the oven.

Unique wines, from experimental and little-known wineries.
Following the restaurant line, diners can choose wines based on feelings, rather than wineries or types of grapes. Proof of this are the categories in which they are grouped: Dancing in the rain, Looking for inspiration or Colored umbrellas for sad days.
